Provenance
Chengdu has roughly three hundred overcast days a year, and Héyǔ — literally "river rain" — was founded on the observation that almost no one designs for drizzle. Not a downpour. Drizzle.
The house makes one thing properly: unlined outerwear in tightly woven cotton that has been waxed by hand in small batches, then hung rather than pressed. It softens rather than cracks, and it takes about a season to stop looking new.
Each coat carries the month it was waxed on the inner facing. The founder considers this the only label that matters.
