Provenance
Yǒng dyes in a courtyard in Xi'an using vats that are fed rather than replaced — the oldest has been running continuously since the studio opened.
Cloth goes in between nine and twenty-two times. Past about fifteen dips indigo stops reading as blue and starts reading as a very deep, slightly warm black that shifts in daylight. That is the range the label works in.
Nothing is colour-matched between pieces, and the studio will tell you so before you buy.

In a Xi'an courtyard, Yǒng feeds a vat rather than replacing it. Somewhere past the fifteenth dip, indigo becomes something else entirely.
